Gazelles take Bronze!

USAV Nationals this year was hosted in Indianapolis, IN. AP sent 17 Eclectic, 16 Gazelle and 16 Legacy to compete for a National Championship!

16 Gazelle playing in the USA Division came in seeded #14 overall. Gazelles only dropped 1 match over the 2 days of pool play to Willowbrook and took over the #12 seed. Day 3 proved to be even better for the Gazelles, Going 3-0 in the 2nd round, the Gazelles now owned the #6 seed overall! The Gazelles now had a 5 hour wait till their cross-match with BORINQUEN COQUI who came into the tournament as the overall #1 seed. The Gazelles never looked better, taking only 2 sets 25-19 and 25-21 to seal their fate of the GOLD bracket and a first round match-up with AJV Molten. Gazelles came out HOT and in the first round of gold won their first match in 2, setting the stage for an epic re-match with Willowbrook. The Semi final match proved to be a battle, both teams swapping the lead with Willowbrook taking the first set 25-22. In set 2 AP jumped out to an early lead but Willowbrook made the final push and won 24-26. Congrats to the Gazelles on an amazing season earning the Bronze Medals and finishing 3rd out of 36 teams! Congrats to our coaches Mark Herrin and Sarah Palmer. Congrats to Ava Bell and Graceyn Tippens on receiving ALL-Tournament Awards!!

16 Legacy playing in the American Division, pool play lasted three days in an eight team pool, all pretty evenly matched seeding as there was a five way tie for 1st in the pool as well as the opportunity to take over the 5 seed! Legacy gave their best in every set leaving them with the title first in pool with the highest set percentage over the other four tied teams. This was a huge accomplishment leaving many of the girls and parents emotional for such a strong fight by the team. Receiving a bye in the first round Legacy scouted and waited for the crossover match into gold against New Vision. Legacy fought hard but headed into the silver bracket. Starting off the silver bracket with a setter out with an injury Legacy couldn't pull through, but has a great story to end the season with. The AP team came in 37th seed out of 64, leaving their Legacy by placing 13th overall in the final standings at Nationals 2016! Congrats to Mike Carlin (Coach of the Year) and Whitney Hagg on an amazing season!

17 Eclectic playing in the National Division ended up being placed in a very tough pool for day 1 and 2 of pool play. Needing to secure a win in the last match over Silver State, Eclectic fought extremely hard but ended up losing 15-12 in the 3rd set forcing them to get 4th in the pool. Congrats to Eclectic on an great season and Congrats to our amazing coaches Miguel Saenz and Avery Bashaw on a great season!!
